Belleville Intelligencer 1964

Construction of what use to be The Belleville Intelligencer, 1964.

Several Newspapers predated The Belleville Intelligencer, but The Intelligencer lasted the test of time.

The Anglo-Canadian is the first recorded Newspaper in 1829. This newspaper lasted less then a year. 1831, The Phoenix. Hastings Times, Farmers Journal 1833 and the Standard of Moira, 1834 which lasted only a few weeks.

It was 1834, when George Benjamin moved to Belleville and realized that Belleville had no newspaper to read and although he was warned of all other failings, Mr. Benjamin established The Belleville Intelligencer. This makes the Belleville Intelligener 184 years old. .
