Flashback Friday 1.9

Follow up to last weeks Flashback Picture of the week. This is of course the reconstruction of the Quinte Hotel after the fire of Jan 6, 1907.

Below is a picture shortly after it's completion 1908

Hotel Quinte 1908

April 1907 Belleville city council passed a vote to extend J.V Jenkins (Proprietor) a 15 year fixed taxation rate of $10,000 and a fixed water rate of $100.00 a year over the same period. The cost to rebuild the structure was $150,000

A focal point in the city of Belleville until another fire gutted the building once again December 20, 2012.

Soon to be constructed on this site will be a multi unit Condo, The Pinnacle. I only hope they some how pay tribute to the Hotel which stood for more than 120 years.
